My Workspace

I’ve been ask a couple of times to share my work space, so here is a little post to show you how or better where I work and what things are important to me while working.

Since I spend a lot of time on my computer and work desk (my mum would say too much…) I try to make my work space as inspirational an comfortable as possible. So I love to have light colors and some creative things around me, like a notebook, inspirational design magazines, post cards and pictures and drawing materials (pencils, a notebook etc.).

Coffee Break with Chocolate Cake

Oh, sometimes I really really love to drink a cup of hot coffee and maybe eat something sweet together with it. So when my mum baked her famous vegan chocolate cake for us, I couldn’t resist to eat a piece of cake with a hot vanilla soy milk coffee as breakfast the next day.

Sooo yummy… And yes I know, I shouldn’t drink too much coffee, but once in a while the sweet taste of the cake in combination with the slightly bitter task of coffee is just the best!

Japanese Food Inspirations

While traveling in Japan I just love to explore all the amazing book stores they have here. So loving everything about food, of course I also checked out all sorts of cook books and cook magazines, and there are a lot of them! Japanese people seem to love food and to love taking pictures of food as well. And everything is sooo beautifully arranged, it seems to me they are taking food photography to a whole new level here.

So I got tons of inspirations and I wanted to try out some food photography of my own. It’s not perfect, but I tried to arrange my dinner set in a nice and light way, like I saw it in the magazines. Well, I still have to get better and I also had my iPhone camera with me, but I will definitely want to dig into Japanese style food photography a whole lot deeper, so watch out if you are hungry…

Strolling Around Tokyo

Tokyo is such an amazing city and we always wanted to visit it. Last year we finally had the time and the money for a trip to Japan and we started our trip with five days in Tokyo. Of course five days are way too short and we could only catch a glimpse of the city during our stay. But we loved every minute of it and we already dreaming of coming back one day.

We stayed in a lovely little hotel just a few train stations away from Shibuya station and were able to get around the city pretty easy. The train system in Tokyo is amazing, although crowded at times. But it’s actually pretty easy to find your way around. We also loved it to just stroll around the different neighborhoods, eat in local cafés and small restaurants and just watch, watch watch…

Book Review: Hello Sandwich Tokyo Travel Guide

When we traveled to Japan last year our first stop was Tokyo. Since we were dreaming about visiting Japan for years, we were so exited and started to search for good travel recommendation or guide books. We stumbled over a recommendation for the little self-made “Tokyo Guide” by Hello Sandwich somewhere online rather accidentally. Of course we ordered the little book right away.

And we really loved it — it gave us so many ideas what to do in this amazing city away from the typical tourist to do lists.

The guide is divided into the different Tokyo neighborhoods and you can just mark an area and explore the sights and recommendations there. We also loved the tip to get a smart card for the Tokyo train and subway net. This way we didn’t have to worry about getting a ticket every time we took the metro.

Our favorite area in our (sadly only five days stay) in Tokyo was Shimokitazawa (with cute stores and lovely cafés) and of course Harajuku with its teens dressing up sooo fun and creative. We definitely have to come back and stay in Tokyo again to see more of this amazing city.

Cats Know It All

I really don’t understand why humans always have to be sooo busy running around doing something, talking to someone or planing to leave the house in a hurry. I think we have all the time in the world and we should sleep more, okay, you can get up at night and stroll around the house and the garden a bit.

But then in the morning I try to be really quiet so that it seems I also slept all night, like my humans. Of course I’m not, because it is important to control the house and the garden, so that the weird, noisy little cat from next door doesn’t dare to come to close to my house.

Then in the morning I really really have to take a long nap and I’m always a little bit disappointed that my humans don’t stay in bed with me. They seem to be in a hurry, so I will watch them eat breakfast, maybe I will get a little snack, if I look at them really cute ;). You know how cats can do that… Just look really cute and stroll around the human legs and you can be sure to get a little something out of the fridge. But is has to be really fresh, you have to make sure you are a bit picky with food, so the humans will only by the best food for you. You know the game :)
